The Surgical Training Institute is committed to maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare, ethics, and regulatory compliance in all educational and training activities involving animal models.
The Animal Welfare Committee (AWC) plays a central role in ensuring that all procedures involving live tissue training are conducted responsibly, ethically, and in full alignment with internationally recognized standards.
The committee oversees:
Ethical review and approval of all training activities involving animal models
Compliance with AAALAC-accredited standards and applicable regulations
Implementation of the 3Rs principles (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement)
Continuous monitoring of animal care, anesthesia, and welfare protocols
Training and guidance for all personnel involved in experimental activities
Through its work, the AWC ensures that surgical training is performed in a controlled, respectful, and scientifically sound environment.
